In order to avoid further speculations on the rejection of the initiation of a criminal case on the materials prepared with regard to the incident taken place in the RA National Assembly on 08.05.2020, we deem it necessary to clarify that the RA Court of Cassation expressed its legal position on similar case N ARD/0176/01/11 back in 2012, that beating is characterized by striking a victim's body more than once, in which case one beat  cannot be qualified as a beating and lead to the criminal liability provided in article 118 of the RA Criminal Code. In such terms the body of the proceeding having assessed data obtained during the preparation of the materials came to a legal  conclusion that the actions of both National Assembly members Sasun Mikaelyan and Edmon Marukyan, and other National Assembly members involved in the incident do not contain elements of crime stipulated by article 118 or other article of the RA Criminal Code.

The decision was duly sent to the parties, who were explained their right to appeal.
