Charge is brought with tax evasion in especially large amount

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case on abuse of official powers by police officers in the process of purchase of vehicle license plate numbers, and illegal participation in business activities over 2018-2019, instituted at the RA Special Investigation Service tax evasion case in especially large amount has been revealed.

Particularly, in the period between 2011 and April 2019 A. V. periodically received on the names of two companies headed by him around USD 3.3 million in total, from a foreign company, which was one of the shareholders of the company, supplying license plate numbers to the RA Police; such amounts were not reflected in the reports, calculations, declarations and other mandatory taxation documents, provide by the law. Thus, A. V. evaded taxes on profit and income due to the RA state budget in especially large amount of AMD 731 241 054 (AMD 1 528 073 858 with the account of fine and penalty) over the mentioned period of time.

For the commitment of the above-mentioned offence A. V. is charged under article 205 (part 2) of the RA Criminal Code. Taking into custody was selected as a measure of restriction against him.

As it has been reported earlier two high-ranking police officers of the Republic of Armenia were also charged with the same criminal case, for causing damage to the State in especially large amount as a result of restricting competition between two private companies capable of supplying vehicle license plate numbers to RA Police, carrying out anti-competitive activities through taking measures to prevent one of companies from entering the Armenian market, and abuse of official powers.

The preliminary investigation is underway.

Notification: a person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime, is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgement that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
