Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Armenia H.E. Vincenzo Del Monaco and Attaché of the Financial Guard in the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Moscow, Brigadier General Maurizio Muscara who is also accredited in the Republic of Armenia today met with Sasun Khachatryan, Head of the RA Special Investigation Service, Third Class Justice Advisor.

Within the framework of the working visit of the delegation of the RA Special Investigation Service to Italy in 2019, an agreement was reached on signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the fields of law enforcement cooperation between the RA Special Investigation Service and the Financial Guard of the Republic of Italy, and developing more effective mechanisms in the field of legal reforms in our country by introducing new international best practices.

Expressing his gratitude to the Italian delegation for the consistent steps taken towards the development of cooperation Sasun Khachatryan, Head of the Special Investigation Service, referred to the effectiveness of the work of the Italian law enforcement bodies in the fight against organized crime and corruption, highlighting in particular the need for the best Italian experience in the field of corruption investigation. The Colonel Maurizio Muscara said that the Italian side is also interested in developing and expanding cooperation in this direction. Maurizio Muscara also informed that the Financial Guard delegation is expected to visit Armenia in May 2020 and expressed hope that drafting of the Memorandum of Understanding will be completed by that time.

Referring to the experience of effective use of modern information technologies during the investigation of criminal cases in Italy, Sasun Khachatryan noted that its introduction will assist reduction of the burden of the preliminary investigation bodies in our country and increase the efficiency of their activities.

Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco assured that the expansion of bilateral cooperation would be continuous and the first visit of Maurizio Muscara to Armenia could be considered as a new impetus for effective Armenian-Italian cooperation
