By the combination of sufficient evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case on bribery to the victim for giving fabricated testimony investigated in the RA Special Investigation Service it was established that Robert Kocharyan's close associate Armen Tavadyan together with Varuzhan Mkrtchyan and other supporters of Robert Kocharyan, in the summer 2019 created an organized group aiming to interfere and prevent the administration of justice, proper functioning of the judicial system and revealing the truth of the criminal case of March 1, as well as the case separated from the same on Robert Kocharyan and others, which is being examined by the Yerevan city court of General Jurisdiction.
To achieve the above-mentioned goals of the organized group, Armen Tavadyan, Varuzhan Mkrtchyan and other members of the group planned and mutually agreed in advance the roles of each group member. After that, Varuzhan Mkrtchyan, a member of the organized group, with the consent and knowledge of the other members of the group, including Armen Tavadyan, in September 2019 invited the victim of the criminal case on Robert Kocharyan and others to his office in Yerevan and offered the latter a bribe in the amount of 5 million AMD against refusing the status of the victim in the said criminal case and giving false testimony in favor of R. Kocharyan.
Armen Tavadyan and Varuzhan Mkrtchyan were charged with committing the above-mentioned criminal acts under Article 340 (point 1, part 4) of the RA Criminal Code.
Considering the evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation to be sufficient enough to make an indictment on the part of the criminal case, separated with regard to the mentioned persons, and to send the said case to the court, the body of proceeding informed the accused and their defendants on the same, and provided the materials of the criminal case to them for their reference.
Notification: a person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime, is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgement that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
