Based on the combination of sufficient evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case known as “Electric Yerevan” investigated in the RA Special Investigation Service, Police Colonel A. A. was charged with article 309 (part 2) of the RA Criminal Code, for holding the position of the Deputy Chief of the relevant Department of RA Police on June 23, 2015 passed his official authorities accompanied by the use of force.
According to the charge, during the dispersal of a rally against the increase in electricity prices in Yerevan on June 23, 2015, in the area adjacent to the Freedom Square A. A. together with two other police officers captured one of the rally participants Filip Arzumanyan and passing his official powers, twice punched the latter’s head causing significant damage to Filip Arzumanyan’s rights and legitimate interests.
The preliminary investigation on the part of the criminal case separated with regard to A. A. is over. The case with an indictment was sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to send it to court.
It will be recalled that that during the preliminary investigation of the above-mentioned criminal case in the RA Special Investigation Service, another combination of sufficient evidence to prove the crime was obtained, on the basis of which 4 Police officers were charged with article 164 (part 2), article 164 (part 1) and article 185 (part 1) of the RA Criminal Code, the criminal cases with their regard with an indictment were sent to the court. There are already legally binding decisions against them.
Notification: a person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime, is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgement that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code .
