By the preliminary investigation of the criminal case instituted on the incident of secret ravishing of another person’s property by the policeman of RA Police Yerevan City Department PGS Regiment Eduard Avetisyan and citizen Onik Mkrtchyan pursuant to point 1.1, part 3, Article 177 of RA Criminal Code it has been grounded that the police officer Eduard Avetisyan and the latter’sfriend – Onik Mkrtchyan, with the purpose of settling financial problems, have come to preliminary agreement in regard to carrying out theft from the apartments rent by Iranian tourists, who had arrived in Armenia, and have carried out theft of different items from the apartments thereof.
Thus, on July 12, 2014, after midnight, by preliminary consent Eduard Avetisyan and Onik Mkrtchyan illegally entered the apartment of Iranian Reza M. and secretly ravished household items from there causing the latter a material damage of considerable amount – 200 thousand RA drams.
Besides, on September 1, 2014 at about 01:00am O.Mkrtchyan illegally entered another apartment and secretly ravished household items, clothes, a golden ring belonging to IRI citizen Safar J., causing him a material damage of large amount – 600 thousand RA drams.
Detention is chosen as a measure of restraint in pre-trial proceedings towards RA Police officer Eduard Avetisyan and citizen Onik Mkrtchyan.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case in RA Special Investigation Service is over and the case with the indictment is submitted to the prosecutor carrying out the procedural supervision to be verified and sent to the court.
Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
