Special Investigation Service of Republic of Armenia
Once again a false accusation. The prisoner’s girlfriend accused the special service employees of committing a crime without any grounds
2015-02-23

In the course of the preliminary examination of the criminal case launched in the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia under Part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, the girlfriend of Hamlet Sh., who was accused of secretly stealing somebody’s property, having being informed of the liability for giving false accusations in accordance with Article 333 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, reported that against her will she was brought into the police department and illegally detained there from 8AM to 7PM. While in the police department she heard curses addressed to his boyfriend and the voices of violence applied to him. The evidence and factual materials obtained as a result of the preliminary investigation prove that the information stated in the report of the citizen was obviously false and the latter, being aware of this circumstance, provided the given information to the preliminary investigatory authority by groundlessly accusing the special service employees of exceeding their employment-related powers and his illegal detention in the police department.
A new criminal case has been launched based on the materials to the criminal case reviewed in the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with Part 1 of Article 333 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia and the criminal proceeding launched with regard to the excess of the employment-related powers by the police employees has been quashed on account of the absence of the criminal act.
A preliminary investigation is underway.

Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
