The Special Investigation Service has filed charges against citizen Argishti Kiviryan under the RA Criminal Code, Article 316, part 1 and Article 333, part 2, point 1 for the fact that on August 24, 2013, while being taken to the police station for not complying with the lawful demand of the RA police officers ensuring public order to vacate the busy section of the road adjacent to the newly erected building in Komitas Avenue, 5 and continue the protest action on the sidewalks in order not to hinder the traffic, he inflicted violence not dangerous for health on a police officer who was carrying out his official duties.
Moreover, while being taken to Arabkir Police Division in a car, citizen Argishti Kiviryan hit his own face against the protruding part of the car door for the purpose of self-harm, as a result of which he inflicted bodily injuries upon himself on the forehead, eyelid and nose threatening the policemen taking him to the police station with blaming the inflicted injuries on them. Thus, realizing the above-mentioned threat but being well aware of the fact that the information provided by him was false, Argishti Kiviryan subsequently reported a crime to bodies authorized to initiate criminal proceedings stating that the above-mentioned bodily injuries (which he actually received as a result of self-harm) had been caused by the police officers as a result of violence used against him.
A written undertaking not to leave has been chosen as pretrial measures against Argishti Kiviryan.
Preliminary investigation continues.
