The Special Investigation Service has finished the preliminary investigation of a criminal case initiated according to the RA Criminal Code, Article 34-177, part 3, point 1.1 and Article 333, part 2, point 1.
Preliminary investigation has substantiated the fact that taking advantage of the open door of one of the apartments in Mantashyan street, Yerevan, Gegham Andreasyan illegally entered the above-mentioned apartment at about 13:40 pm, June 25, 2013, with the intention of committing a secret theft of large amounts of property belonging to the owners of the apartment. However, he didn’t manage to complete the burglary due to circumstances beyond his control; namely, he got noticed by the owner of the apartment, E.M., who caught him by inflicting corporal injuries on the latter in the form of scratches on the neck while trying to prevent his escape.
Realizing during the preliminary investigation of the above-mentioned burglary case that the information provided by him was false, Gegham Andreasyan submitted a report to the Special Investigation Service accusing the police officers of abuse of official authorities accompanied with violence against him.
Namely, Gegham Andreasyan falsely reported that the police officers who brought him to Shengavit Division of the RA Police on June 25, 2013 on suspicion of attempted burglary, tortured and inflicted corporal injuries on him, including the above-mentioned scratches on the neck, to extort a confession and testimony as well as violated his right to protection and other rights.
Having completed the preliminary investigation, the investigator has submitted the criminal case with the bill of indictment to the prosecutor supervising the proceedings to be confirmed and sent to court.
