Today Special Investigation Service Celebrates Its 6th Anniversary

Today Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia had a solemn session on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the Service.
In his opening speech Head of Special Investigation Service, third class state counselor of justice Vahram Shahinyan congratulated the staff of Special Investigation Service emphasizing once again that Special Investigation Service should be the most professional, principled and impartial investigative body in the Republic of Armenia to conduct the preliminary investigation of the most complicated and multifaceted cases initiated in connection with serious and particularly serious crimes. He also underlined the role of the competent young employees constantly joining Special Investigation Service, who are professional and honourable enough to help the Service along its difficult and responsible way full of obstacles.
Vahram Shahinyan said, “It is the principal task of an officer of Special Investigation Service to be incorruptible, impartial and principled in promoting most effective fight against crime and for protection of human rights and legitimate interests guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.”
The floor was given to Deputy Head of Special Investigation Service Armen Nadiryan too, who delivered a speech on the work accomplished by the Service. Speaking of the efficiency of the activities implemented by Special Investigation Service, Armen Nadiryan said, “In its brief period of existence Special Investigation Service has managed to become an influential investigative body in the system of bodies conducting preliminary investigation. Nevertheless, the Service has set itself the goal of improving the efficiency of its activities, ensuring sufficient organizational, legal and social guarantees for the activities of the Service’s employees, creating conditions for direct application of case law in investigative activities as well as providing a strong link between theory and practice.”
On his part, Deputy Head of Special Investigation Service Vladimir Hovhannisyan presented the achievements and future tasks of the Service.
“Given the current challenges, effective implementation of the objectives set before the Service is possible only through hard work and consistency, continuous improvement of professional knowledge as well as awareness of precedential decisions by the European Court of Human Rights and RA Courts of Appeal and their practical implementation,” said Vladimir Hovhannisyan.
Investigators for particularly important cases of Special Investigation Service also had the floor. Expressing their sincere appreciation to the chief officers for their demanding but caring attitude as well as objective assessment of the investigators’ work, the latter thanked the authorities of the Republic of Armenia for every support and encouragement given to them. The investigators also expressed their willingness to undertake the honourable responsiblity to efficiently implement the difficult tasks set before the Service.
On the occasion of the 6th anniversary of Special Investigation Service Deputy Head of Special Investigation Service Vladimir Hovhannisyan and Senior Investigator for Particularly Important Cases of Special Investigation Service Mushegh Babayan were awarded “Mkhitar Gosh” medal by President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.
At the solemn session Head of Special Investigation Service Vahram Shahinyan awarded medals, letters of acknowledgement as well as souvenirs to investigators of Special Investigation Service.
