On November 16-17 the officers of the RA Special Investigation Service attended focused discussion organized by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), on the topics related to the fight against corruption, return of illegally obtained assets, and international legal assistance.
By mentioning that the subjects discussed were actually important and up to date, Sasun Khachatryan, the Head of the RA Special Investigation Service has emphasized the study of the best practice of German partners, which would contribute to effective implementation of investigations related with illicit enrichment and development of professional skills of investigators.
German experts, experienced in the field of investigation of corruption related cases, presented certain cases instituted on actual facts of corruption, including illicit enrichment in their country, and methods of investigation thereof, discussed cases of concealment of illegally obtained property in Germany, and measures to be taken against them. Besides, the international practice of confiscation of illegally obtained property and legal regulation thereof was presented. In the scope of international mutual legal assistance, they particularly discussed issues related with the applicable treaties on international legal assistance between Germany and Armenia.
At the closure of discussions, the experts expressed hope that such projects to bear continuous nature, and in the near future they will deeply discuss issues related with the above mentioned subjects with Armenian partners.
