In respond to statements made during today’s briefing with journalists by Ruben Sahakyan, the lawyer of Robert Kocharyan, charged for overthrowing constitutional order, we deem it necessary to inform the following:
Any statement made by the head of RA Special Investigation Service, including on involvement of the army on March 1 incidents, resulted in failure to timely replace the soldiers on duty on the state border, application of firearms charged with service bullets by the army, on giving away money to the military on account of personal funds, is based on reliable evidence only, obtained through procedural order within the criminal case. We hope, that in the near future all these facts will be investigated during a public trial and the defence will no more have the opportunity to mislead the public by means of spreading false information.
After all these, there is a little choice but to assume that Ruben Sahakyan either was not acquainted with the materials of the criminal case, or he well knows them, but misleads the public, or he is acquainted with them, but for some objective reasons is not able to understand the content thereof, which is more disturbing, as in this case it turns out that he cheats not only the public but his client as well.
Certainly, we don’t want to respond Ruben Sahakyan in the same low-quality manner, instead, we call him not to go beyond the limits of correctness and legal ethics.
