The body of investigation on criminal case investigated in the RA Special Investigation Service related to incidents taken place in Yerevan city on March 1 and 2, 2008 have closed the preliminary investigation on the criminal case on the below mentioned persons, by considering that evidence obtained on the criminal case is sufficient to make an indictment on Robert Kocharyan, the former President of the Republic of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, the former head of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Yuri Khachaturov, the deputy Minister of Defense of RA, and Armen Gevorgyan, the head of the Staff of the RA President, and send the case to the court.
Robert Kocharyan is charged under article 300.1 (part 1) and article 311 (part 4, point 2) of the RA Criminal Code, for overthrowing constitutional order and receiving bribe in especially large amount.
Seyran Ohanyanis charged under article 300.1 (part 1) of the RA Criminal Code, for overthrowing constitutional order.
Yuri Khachaturovis charged under article 300.1 (part 1) of the RA Criminal Code for overthrowing constitutional order.
Armen Gevorgyanis charged under article 38-300.1 (part 1), article 311 (part 4, point 2) and article 190 (part 3, point 1) of the RA Criminal Code, for assisting to overthrow constitutional order, receiving bribe in especially large amount and legalization of illegally obtained assets.
The participants of the proceeding have been informed on the completion of the preliminary investigation and notified of the right to get acquainted with the materials of the criminal case.
Notification: a person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime, is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgement that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
