During the search made with regard to March 1, a large number of arms and ammunition was found

On the basis of data obtained in the result of measures taken in coordination with the RA Special Investigation Service and the RA National Security Service during the preliminary investigation of criminal case investigated in the RA Special Investigation Service with regard to the incidents taken place in Yerevan city in between the period from March 1 and 2, 2008, search was made on August 6 and 7, 2018 in the former mechanical repair factory of Mkhchyan of Ararat marz of RA, registered on the name of Ambik Gevorgyn, actually owned by the ex-Prime Minister, Hovik Abrahamyan. 

During the search a large number of arms and ammunition, including 3 pieces of light machine guns, 7 pieces of “AK-74” guns, 2 pieces of “SVD” sniper’s rifle, 3 pieces of different types of rifles, 2 pieces of pistols and a great number of ammunition, namely patrons of different calibre illegally kept at the mentioned place.

Ambik Gevorgyan and Hovik Abrahamyan’s brother Henrik Abrahamyan are arrested by the investigator of RA Special Investigation Service with the suspicion of illegal acquisition and keeping arms and ammunition

The RA Special Investigation Service and RA National Security Service are conducting necessary investigative operations and coordinated operational search measures in order to identify the sources of acquisition of arms found during the search and the fact of being used thereof on March 1 and 2, 2008.

Preliminary investigation is underway.

 

Notification: a person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime, is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgement that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
