Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister introduced Sasun Khachatryan, the newly appointed head of the Service to the staff of the RA Special Investigation Service. Nikol Pashinyan thanked the former head of the Service, Vahram Shahinyan, for the performed work and welcomed the newly appointed head of the Service Sasun Khachatryan, for being appointed to the position.
Making some observations with regard to the activities of the Special Investigation Service the Prime Minister expressed the hope that the Service will perform all set functions: “The legislation states that the Special Investigation Service deals with the violations of the law, offences committed by representatives of judicial, executive government, and the next, the most important function is the cases related with the election offences. This shows the exceptional importance of the special service in our life, and in general, in the field of assurance of the law enforcement- Nikol Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister noted: “When we say that everyone has equal rights under the law, we mean that all have equal rights under the law and we do not mean that some others have more equal rights. When we say that we must eliminate corruption from Armenia, we mean that corruption must be eliminated from Armenia, we do not mean that in some places the corruption will be accepted. I would like to stress out that the Special Investigation Service will be responsible for the assurance of the great part of this issue, and I hope that the SIS will fulfil its function.
I would like to finally solve a small episode between the SIS and me. I believe that there should not be pictures of any of the RA senior officials in the offices of SIS investigators, because the Special Investigation Service deals with such issues, in which such official could be involved. In the offices of SIS investigators there must be the RA Coat of Arms, the National Flag, and these emblems should express the functions, performed by the SIS,” – Nikol Pashinyan said.
“One of the most important things that the Special Investigation Service should do is to disclose the crime of March 1,” – pointed the Prime Minister, and added: “If there were any cases that failed to go forward before, due to some political, objective and subjective reasons, I hope that headed by the new SIS Head the investigators will refer to all these cases, based on the goal of ensuring legal order in Armenia”.
Vahram Shahinyan, the former head of the Special Investigation Service congratulated the newly appointed head of the Service, and wished him success in the further works, hoping that together with the principled, professional staff the newly appointed head will fulfil all set tasks.
Sasun Khachatryan, the newly appointed head of the Special Investigation Service thanked the Prime Minster for being entrusted such responsible work, and assured that the SIS personnel can solve any complexity issues. “We do have a will for that. I assure that we will fulfil the tasks set to the Special Investigation Service with honour,” – Sasun Khachatryan said.
