A criminal case was launched with regard to the excess of the official powers with the use of violence

A criminal case was launched based on the report filed by the prisoner of “Artik” Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia as per the materials prepared in the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with Part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the prisoner’s report on September 16, 2014 at about 8AM, he was taken into custody to Mush Department of Gyumri city of Shirak Regional Administration of the Police of the Republic of Armenia where the policemen exercised violence against him with an intention of getting confessionary statements about the commission of the theft. They also threatened him that if he did not confess they would hold his son criminally liable.
He was forced to agree with the demands of the policemen and he confessed that he had allegedly committed the theft.
A preliminary investigation is underway.

Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
